Cooling System

The Street overheated last Saturday and discharged rusty water from the overflow

The coolant top up tank shows the same water level from before the overheating episode.

I ran the bike up to temp this morning and both top and bottom pipes were warm only I expected them to be near boiling hot.

The fan did not engage I visually checked the relay for what it’s worth.

The fuse is intact

I can’t see the water circulating in the header tank.

I’ve not checked the thermostat

I’m assuming that’s under the tank somewhere.

None of the hoses appear pinched

A bit baffled

I’m not a mechanic by any means so straight forward advice appreciated

Cheers

I'd flush it first to get rid of the rusty deposits.

You might try bleeding the system first. Run it up to temp with cap off. If there's an airlock it will "burp" itself via the highest point ( which should be the tank). The level will drop if there's an airlock before out so top it up.

If the pipes get warm then the thermostat is opening, to test a thermostat it needs removing. They normally have the opening temperature marked on them. Simply place the thermostat in some water and heat it until you hit the marked temperature. You should see it open.

That'll keep you quiet and remember I'm applying car fixing logic here.

Also remember I'm an idiot

PMK. All done. It’s real pain taking the tank off for easier access. I’m off down to Cheddar afternoon. My AA card safely tucked in my wallet. Thanks Buddy
