Fork cap spanner size?

Can anyone please confirm what size spanner I need to undo the fork caps on a 2005 Heritage?
According to my measuring stick the nut is a 35mm but I have seen references online to people using a 1 3/8 inch to do it. (1 3/8 " = 34.9 mm). As the forks are made by Showa, I would expect it to be metric but would appreciate confirmation of this.

They are Imperial, 1 3/8", one of these low profile tools tend to work best, not damage the chrome and you can often remove them without disturbing the handlebars. It also allows the cap to be torqued up to the correct setting as this is what secures the stanchion in the top yoke on an FL model

The above is the type you want, with the cut out corners, not the cheap copy below with no cut outs as this can chip the chrome off at the corners of the top nut!

I have the full cap removal tool from Motion Pro, I bought it after the last time I removed the fork caps, that thing goes into orbit when you unscrew it without the tool.
