Details for Saturday 21st May Walton on the Hill pageant
The West will leave Fontwell Services on the A27 at 10.30am, picking up any others at Buckbarn Services on the A24 at 11.15am.
The East , wait at the Thoroughbred Inn, Polegate to leave at 10am , pick up point Kingston roundabout Lewes for 10.20/10.25, Patcham services 10.35 leave by 10.45 up the A23 turning off onto the Cowfold road A272 Bolney , pick up point here is the layby opposite Bolney nursery garden centre A272. Make our way to Buck Barn services to meet the guys from West.
We have sometimes met others en-route at the Great Daux roundabout where the A264 meets the A24, that way people coming via Pease Pottage can link in with us as we ride by (without going to Buckbarn Services). But it’s not easy as the best layby, for others to tag on the end, is actually on the A24 just BEFORE the Great D heading north. We have, in the past, also picked up those who live closer to Walton at the Betchworth Station Car park on the B2032 as we ride by
We aim to arrive in Walton between 12- 12.30 for Brunch at 'The Village Cafe' opposite the village pond. (using the A24 to Dorking then the A25 and then the B2032 & B2220 to Walton ) After brunch we meet in the carpark at 1.30pm of the Blue Ball pub, Deans Lane , Walton on the hill, Surrey KT20 7UE. Carnival parade starts at 2.00 and finishes at the beer tent.
great fun to be riding in as part of the village carnival, have your pillion pegs down as you may get a pageant participant hitching a ride on the back !
