2003 anniversary vrod on a 2002 reg plate? Is this possible or a scam?

Hi, I am about to buy a '2003 anniversary vrod' that is on a 2002 reg plate - Is this actually possible? or is it impossible and must it be a scam involving badges put on an 2002 normal bike?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I was always under the impression that 02 were silver or adonised and the 03 was black over silver ( like mine )
These above are said to be 03 but are silver ?
I know for a fact that black over silver were 03 only, with gold badges. 02 had silver badges.
A 52 plate could run until end feb 03.

Before this year is over 2013 models will be sold and registered so a 100th anny HD is quite normal to be a 52 plate, sold at the end of 2002.

I have a 100th anniversary FXST on a 52 plate, and a 1993 Guzzi on a 1994 L plate, which all goes to show that Harleys fly out of the showroom quicker than Guzzis...:wink:
