Brake light function after installing braiding cable

I've just removed the standard rear brake line off my 98 Softail & replaced it with a Goodridge braided version, however as the rear brake light on/off control (located by the o/s shock) works via the throughput of brake fluid through the standard line (or so it appears), I now no longer have a rear brake light & my MOT is due next weekend.

Can anyone suggest how I can best replace the rear brake light control now that I have an aftermarket brake line that bypasses the brake light control without having to employ one of the standard spring type things that works off the front brake pedal?

Many thanks

Re: Brake light function after installing braiding cable

Hi, it sounds like you have the wrong line installed. You can always put the original back on for the MOT and get a correct braided line with the fitting for the switch at a later date.
watch out for the switch having a short circuit to it's body as this will blow your fuse as the current will flow to earth. this would only happen if the switch was faulty, seen it happen before.

Sorry i ain't got anything better to tell ya.
