Checking engine oil level TC88B

May seem a stupid question but i'm having difficulty checking oil level on the heritage! When i stop engine (after a 30 mile run) i check oil immediatly the level is below the end of dipstick! i then run engine @ a little above idle speed and with filler/dipstick removed i can watch the oil level in tank increase to correct level! is this normal with the tc motor? Never had any probs when checking my previuos sporty-just pulled out stick @ end of a ride to check!! Cheers H.

Re: Checking engine oil level TC88B

Let the motor idle for a minute or so level (manual says on the sidestand for the softail) to give it a chance to scavenge any oil in the cases.
Turn it off then check when level = not on the stand.

Scavenge port is on the right side of the cases, so level will get any oil in the cases over to it through the pump scavenge gerotors and up into your oil tank (IMO). ;)
