Evo Front Forks...

Here's a daft one for you guys, my 1991 Evo Softail Custom, when it was being worked on, a year or so ago, the guy informed me that I was running 2 inch over stock front fork legs.
I told him- "No, I've had this Bike from new, and only put better springs etc, in the front", but no, "these are 2" over, you must have changed them".
So, my question is,- did any Evo Softail Custom actually come with " Long Legs"? Or am I missing something?

The answer is check the Parts Book, there is only one FXST that year the other being a Springer it list the fork tubes as 45417-84
The other FL Softails have 45930-86 fork tubes (Fat Boy & Heritage)
These are shorter as are FLT.

Cross references say that it is the stock part but can be used to lengthen the tube for other models.

Note the difference on spec- top chart FXR 39mm 23.50, lower chart 24.25", I would guess the lower one is correct...

That's interesting to know,
Mine (FXWG) are 4.7" over a Stock FL!
That would be important if ever I needed to replace them...
