Fuel tank pressure

We stopped for fuel and as my friend removed his petrol cap from under the seat tank, fuel gushed out to a height of at least 6ft. Some pressure build up. OK, it was about 45 Centigrade that day but, he said the first time it had happened since owning the 10th anniversary edition. There must be some type of pressure relief valve there so, maybe stuck or sediment blockage. Anyone have a similar problem?

Re: Fuel tank pressure

45 degrees... A bit warm! It is possible the fuel reached vapour lock temperature as it sat there cooking. Taking the cap off dropped the pressure in the tank and and caused the fuel in the lines adjacent to the engine to flash over into vapour. A bit like taking the radiator filler cap off of when a engine is overheating.
