Gonna change the oil & filter on the 03 heritage this weekend.
As well as the drain plug under the frame from the tank ,I noticed a 1/4 allen head bolt in the sump, is this a drain plug also ?
Is it worth undoing ? Will i get much old oil out ?

Re: Oil & filter change.

No, no & no. No touchee. Not for removal item, used in manufacture.

Re: Oil & filter change.

NEVER touch that plug!!!
It can be used ONLY as a last resort in certain circumstances, like checking for wet sumping when all other avenues have failed to reach a conclusion.

BIG risk of cracking the case.

Re: Oil & filter change.

And the one further back, right between the suspension units, is the gearbox drain plug, better removed with a socket than the allen recess, and if it's anything like mine, it's a bu66er to get back in, unless you have long delicate fingers (maybe ask my wife to put it back next time) :D

Ooh Matron!!!!

banquo: Don't forget to remind paperplane about the primary chaincase oil drain plug! Especially the replacement of it.
