H-DRCGB R29 Newsletter for July 2022
This is the bi-monthly Newsletter for Region 29, timed between the issue of the Harleyquin magazine from the Club. The aim is to let you know what is coming up, rather than what has happened – which is what the Harleyquin mag aims to do.
THIS SATURDAY 23rd July. Forgotten Bike Show in Holywell High Street, run by Forgotten Riders MCC, Colin Turnbull and Merve Craddock has expressed an interest if you fancy this one.
THIS Sunday 24th July. Motorcycle Heritage and Exhibition, Abby Station, Shrewsbury. 10am – 4pm. Neil Gregory is interested if anyone else wants to attend.
THIS Sunday 24th July. H.A. Custom Show in Liverpool. Neal Benting will be at the Harvester pub at Shawbirch, leaving at 9.15am to ride to Chester HD to meet Colin Turnbull there about 10.30.
THIS Sunday 24th July. Big Breakfast at Mavericks, North Wales, 9am – 3pm. Mavericks are celebrating the best of Harley Davidson. Great food and drinks, chilled beers and loads of space in this North Wales automotive venue. Free admission. A few members have expressed an interest in this, so shout out if you are too.
Friday 29th – Sunday 31st July. West London Harley Riders Rally, Beaconsfield, HP92SE. £20 inc breakfast. Rough plan is to meet at the Quatt cafe near Bridgnorth at lunchtime on the Friday. Then head down to Kidderminster and get on the M42 and then the M40 for the run to Beaconsfield. If you're interested let Adam Hill know and you can confirm times etc.
Sunday 7th August. Arwel Jones’ Last Ride. A very special one this to commemorate the passing of a special chap. Meeting at Starbucks, One Stop Bangor for 10 leave 10.30 then on to Rhug Estate Cafe near Corwen to meet Shropshire gang for 12, leave 12.30 head down to Bala onto Llanffestiniog, Blaenau, Crimea, and end in Betws y Coed at 2pm. Join at any point. Neal Benting/Jon Fanthorpe will probably leave from Telford early doors and go to Bangor.
Friday 19th – Sunday 21st August. Yorkshire Rally. Colin Turnbull, Debs, Sean and Claire Gallimore and a few other are attending so if you fancy this great Rally, contact Colin if you want a travel/pitch partner. It’s pay on the gate; details will be in the previous Harleyquin mags and on the Forum.
Sunday 21st August. REP’s RIDE-OUT. Al Lloyd will be leading a region ride-out to Llandudno – North Shore Promenade for a Motorcycle show organized by British Motorcycle Preservation Society. Or just come for the ride and enjoy a few hours in the lovely town of Llandudno. Pick up points will be posted nearer the time, so watch out on Facebook, or contact Al Lloyd if you are not on social media.
Sunday 28th August. Roughly Bike Show, St Peter’s Square, Stockport. 12 midday to 10.30pm. This might seem a bit out of region, but we have a fair few ‘northern’ members! – and this is a favourite for Dave Evans and Fiona Mellor. £3 entry. Let them know if you are interested.
Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th September. Region Camping Weekend on Anglesey at the Ring pub in the village of Rhosgoch, North Anglesey. £20, prepay or £7.50 day ticket for locals. Real ale, burger van, band, karaoke disco, ride out, pub grub, breakfast. More details are on Facebook and on the rally page of the Forum or contact Steve Hewett 07484 293252
