Rideout to Imber village it’s a village on Salisbury plain that was taken over by the mod in 1943 to use for training. Three times a year it’s open to the public, the buildings are use for training purposes apart from the church and graveyard which is preserved, you can’t normally get anywhere near Imber village. Meet at ower services ready to leave at 10-00 we will then meet up with Mark and crew from R14 on route and ride in together teas and coffee’s available at the church (church is cash only).

Thanks to John Lucas for sorting (y)

Take note of the 'School', and the public phone box when 2d was the cost of a call.

Nine of us meeting at Ower services we had a cracking Ride to Imber village, meeting six of the R14 crew on route. Not a lot to see in the actual village except a lovely old church, serving light refreshments (the only part that is out of bounds to the military). A photo shoot at the tank graveyard on the way out where we said cheerio to Region 14 and the obligatory cake stop at Wilton on the way home. Cheers John for organising R19 and Mark for pulling together the R14 posse for an excellent meet up despite the moistness. [Darren]
