Want to retain the stock air cleaner cover and back plate, and instal a K&N filter. What is required with regards to the stock back plate in terms of mods. Thinking the back plate can be trimmed back to allow better flow.
What have others done?
TIA.

K+n do two filters for yours one replaces the stock filter just pops straight in the stock box the other is for the screaming eagle air filter assembly we tried cutting the plastic housing back years ago along with drilling holes in the back with very little gain and got better flow from the aftermarket kit and harleys own s/e assembly as the 883 racing series proved it really depends on what your aiming for performance wise 🤷🏻‍♂️ and a sporty tends to benefit from a whole package ie filter carb rejet and pipes as a good stage 1 with ignition cams and bore kit later options but it can get expensive

Thanks pal. I have SE mufflers (not yet fitted) that contain baffles, stock CV, and SE ign coil pack. Looking to add a little performance but nothing silly. Current air cleaner is stock ham can with stock paper element. Will look for the SE air cleaner assay as you mentioned.
