2 cam JD stuff

Hi Skip. Yep, look like button- top grease nipples on the rocker shafts. Used in conjunction with a hook adaptor on the grease gun, great things if you have easy access. Better than conventional nipples as the grease goes where you want it, not squidging out the sides as normal. Good for high pressure too.

whered everbody go?
Thanks for the reply. Flattered to see my line of reasoning on the rocker arms wasn't off. Exposed valve springs has always give me a sort of a mental squint (if you will). The logic behind the leaving off of some sort of protective cover over [them] seems contrary to the concept of longevity as far as the TBO of the engine is considered.

I already knew these motors were bad ass but eating their own kind, well thats pretty mean...!

You can see the hook on type top left.

Of course there was the first grease system on the original Harleys, a "cup" with a screw down cover (with spring blades to retain it) that squeezed - fairly reliable IF one remembers to regularly turn down a click!
