Comfy Rusty Sheriffs badge, finally.....read on

Well would you believe it? Something so simple as swapping saddles could make so much difference.
300+ miles and the XG is so comfortable, I cannot understand why H-D didn't see fit to use the cushioning, used in the Caf? Solo seat, in the first place. After market sales most likely, ( cynical, moi ). However, it's all good news for me and my XG. The seat is angled so you are closer to the tank. Which improves the Feet, Hands, Bum position. This means you can put more weight on the pegs giving a more relaxed riding position. Handling, a XG Forte, seems to be improved too.
Just a quick word on the sweet 60 degree 750 motor. Mileage seems to be the key. The motor has loosened up and fairly flies along now. I would venture that a 883 would have trouble keeping up through the gears. I'm not knocking 883's But I get where H-D were coming from now. It's a right little street sleeper.
Loving the XG 750

Hi Tezza, The new saddle sounds like a good investment, and am in total agreement about the XG's performance....they fly :wink::wink: .

Ian, nice to hear from you. I'm pretty chuffed with my XG as you have no doubt realised.
Hope Gaynor is fine and you both enjoy your time with the XG - Bung a pipe on, which it needs, and if I remember correctly, a Vance & Hines was part of the prize. Sounds well 'ard with the V&H fitted.
My regards to all the R29 guys n gals I met at Chester H-D

If I get it to sound like yours, we will be very happy. It just needs new bars and seat to make it right.

Ian,
A.R. Harley & sons (Blackpool) / Will Burrow (Preston) 2 names you might like to browse when looking for bits n bobs. The bars are non-standard H-D size so you might have luck with them.
Easiest and cheapest solution to the seat issue rather than spending lots of your hard earned would be to have slightly denser foam put onto the seat base. Easily done through a specialist seat restorer. I was about to go down this route until I read a American article stating the H-D XG 750 Caf? Solo seat had better foam.
Good luck with the Mod's and save your Dosh for a V&H Comp. series pipe.
