can any one tell me where i can get spares for a 250 two stroke harley. specificaly a regulator. a friend has one but no one at harley will admit that they exist. :60277EB7B04744289C0

You could try Matts Machine shop or talk to the guys down at Chopper Haven (I think it's called that) down in Exeter. When I was there last year one of them told me that one of his mates/colleagues was very 'into' the old 2 stroke bikes. I have the same problem as I have an old SST250 in the garage that I'm trying to get sorted for when my Son passes his test - good luck and let me know how you get on.
It's a real shame that the MoCo don't acknowledge the 2 stroke bikes because they are what got me into riding Harleys in the first place and I'm sure there are a few more of us about than people think

The Harley-Davidson SS-250 was the largest
two-stroke single-cylinder street bike Harley offered.
Harley-Davidson had formed a partnership with Aermacchi of Italy in the early1960s to sell mid-size four-stroke singles under the H-D badge. These were soon joined by a host of two-stroke models as small as 65 cc, and even some minibikes.
But while the larger singles were fairly successful, the times prompted something a bit more modern.

That's the jobby. I called it an SST250 but that's because I was also thinking about one i used to ride in '74-'75 and that was an SST125. I definitely can't find any info on that one. It had two sprockets on the back wheel and you got 4 extra links in the toolkit for adding to the chain to enable you to go off road. It was a great little bike. Only 50 on the big sprocket, but 80 on the small one

thats interesting, did you build it ? honda 125 ? there was a 350 two stroke, the HD Cagiva sst 350, and of course Walter Villas bike, I think he may have been a club member !!

Back in those days, it was a pleasure to talk to mates about Walter. As now, Harleys took some stick, but it was easy to mention that Walter was double world champ on 250 and 350 Harleys.

Nah - not like that at all matey. The SX 125 (My mistake on the model prefix) looked similar to the photo of the SST 250 you posted. same tank and frame I guess but with a smaller engine, higher front guard/bars, and knobbly tyres on it - oh I just remembered that it had a high level exhaust as well, in fact it looked just like this:
If you look closely you can just make out the big sprocket behind the smaller one
I'd love to find one of these it'd be great for nipping into town or down the pub

Love them 250's always wanted one as a kid but never even seen one on the road round my way, never mind seeing one for sale!

Has he got a part number.?
W.Boon has some 2 stroke parts but he doesn't always list them.
He had some parts that Noddy wanted a while back.
Also has some manuals and parts books.
You can ring him,he trades from home,a real nice guy.:wink:

I know it's been a while since this thread was last posted to, but I could have a solution to somebody's woes!:169B9ADF431545348BC I have a basket case '75 registered SS250 in my shed (I know it's all there - just need to get it all in one place!):60277EB7B04744289C0
If anybody is interested, I could be persuaded to part with it for the right price. I've turned the motor over occasionally and plugged the ports. It needs some headrace bearings and renewed brake pipes & unions, but a good project for a somebody over the winter months.
Get in touch and we could seal a deal.

I want one of those especially with a raspy expansion chamber
partly to do some greenlaning on but more importantly have always wanted to go to a hog rally on one and upset the natives
