Historic Sussex Visit, the Second one

The day started with six of us having a ‘Charlie Harpers’ brunch in Chichester Town centre before we then undertook the short trip to visit the Fishbourne Roman Palace Discovery centre. This included the conservation lab and exhibits bulk stores. We watched as a skilled conservator was cleaning metal artefacts via a microscope and computer screen and were given an interesting walk and talk tour of the whole facility by the curator. This gave us an insight to the work they do there before we plan our trip to the famous Roman Palace proper. All this was free and was a rare chance to visit the centre. The day was rounded of by a relaxed coffee at the Bosham Crate café down the road and a scenic & sunny ride back alongside the South Downs.

Yes, it was a good day Tony. The Discovery Center is on the same site as the Roman Palace but is not normaly open to the public so it was a great opportunity. We hope to plan a visit to the famous Palace next door in due course.
