Nice package arrived today v2.0 ;-)

Forwards are definitely the way forward 😊. Originally the brake pedal was behind the peg, crazy. So Chris at Fullbore fabricated a set of forwards for me out of the crappy ones it had on the bike when I bought it.

I recently purchased this set-up to run on the '74-FXE resto; removing black wrinkle paint (putting in a blue high-beam lens too ;-)

a good deal, included everything but an axle.

A Question please.
As I see all the bikes above (save the FXWG) are sporting the thick rubber molding about the base of the dash(s) and, as I have no manual to inform me otherwise, does the molding go inside or outside the base of the dash; should it look like a collar or a bead? Or is it one of those parts that goes on 'however it best fits'?

Hi Skip......interesting question. I've just had a look in my parts book for a number and it's not there! Mine is a U shaped rubber moulding that cushions the dash on the tank. To the best of my memory it came from CCI

Thank you Simon, that's a start. Yus, nothing in my parts books neither.
My '02, '05, '07 CCI, Drag and V-twin catalogs (back when they were thickest and most informative) are all packed away to make room to assemble motorcycles!

Thank you Gaz1, for showing the different ones. Alas, mine looks as neither. Mine is just a bead with 1/2 inch height on the inside (see pic in ad), nor is it as neatly finished at the upper end as the Sturgis; also, mine has a bead about 2.5X thicker than the FXR. Pics inna bit.
... a longer than expected bit I'm afeared, but here,
both beads, bib and speedo, have an inner formed-metal structure;

and here bottomside

Another question: Are all black [tandem] dashes cast and are all chrome [tandem] dashes sheet metal?
(2 days and one edit later) Another dug out answer: No they ain't.
this opened my wallet cause it has neu/oil/hibm all in one spot; perfect... if it weren't chrome

Gaz1, that's a beauty. And thank you for posting both photos because I had a set of chrome pipes IDENTICAL (side turnout tips and all) to those in your first photo, and had them high-temp coated black to put on the Sturgis, thinking the original pipes could be improved upon, sound and looks wise. But your second photo answers my thinking. The aftermarket ones look crap in black on a Sturgis, and the original chrome pipes look far better. You did the right thing binning the matt black ones ... and I did the right thing by recently selling my ones and a couple of other bits I intended to try on my FXB. It is staying bone stock. Because that's what really stands out. The 1982 pipes were not 2-1s, of course.

I sold the lot (black-coated aftermarket pipes, newly reupholstered 1980 aftermarket seat which did not work with the stock sissy par and pad, mini hamcan handmade in USA to fit a brand new black S&S Super E carb I also bought) to a mate last month for a good price, and used the money to buy a very costly matching Edelbrock carb and intake manifold for my 1968 Buick Wildcat instead.......

Correct sissy bar now fitted, damaged sissy bar pad repaired by a local specialist, quite a few little bits on their way from USA to finish it off.

The Sturgis, LowRider and FXEF dashes came from the factory with U-shaped trim that work as Simon stated. As per Gaz's first photo. It covers the edges of the tank panel.

Factory part 61648-77. It's in your parts book on the fuel tank page.

I think it was last used on the 1985 FXSB and FXEF 4spd Evos which had identical clocks, though the part number changed to 61648-85. Same trim.

Nope. my book is a 99455 -83C, too late (and too revised) an issue perhaps, to include it. There is a similar p/n 61647-77 for the bib and 61648-85 (43") for the edging around [it] on the tank pages. No mention is made of the molding in the dash panel/instrument/lenses section either.
That a factory parts book would somehow omit something is not a surprise to this boy.

61648-85 is identified in the parts book that I have as the bead molding that goes around the bib... 43 inches worth.
If this is different than what the parts manual you've got I would be not at all surprised.

Mines a1980 and the 2 into 1 was an accessory for that year. Love the look of it but it’s so quiet 🤫.
