Seems that they are expecting a good summer. Used to have a magnetic drain plug on the primary of my Ironhead (until I lost the magnet). That used to get very furry, so sounds like a good idea for particles too small for the filter to take out.

Seriously, don`t suppose it would do any harm. I wouldn`t bother with it.

I know a few guys who stick an ordinary magnet onto the oil filter body and this has the same affect.
IMHO if it catches any metal particles it is worth it ;)
