From this thread I never gave it a thought how easy it is to twist the quick release bolts from the outside with the bags locked!

So I have purchased these and will fit them for extra security. Details where to buy in the above link.

I also have got 4 M6 x 25mm wing bolts coming for easier undoing/doing up.

I have always put Gaffer tape over the quick release bolts inside the bags for added security as I have read of them vibrating loose and bags falling off the bike while riding.

Thanks for that Baza...I'd never given it a thought either. The bags aint cheap to replace.

Just ordered four bolts and nuts.

Maybe harder to find but wouldn't M8 be a much better fit?

Tightens up good with a washer Nick. 25mm would be perfect length as you can see there is 5mm showing but the wing bolts I'm getting are 25mm and I won't need the Allen key. :wink:

I'm happy with the extra security.

Not to butt in, but I fitted a set of these to my luggage. It did mean drilling a hole in the pannier and in the mount for the quick release screw holder.

Good find, spot on 8mm size Nick as per the original QR ones, everyone seems to have a bigger one than me! :wink:

I have been told size doesn't matter!!!.... and mine is nice and tight even with my small one. :60277EB7B04744289C0

I have the same thing on mine, not for security but was worried after i put the speakers in that the bass vibrations from my youngsters dance music at full volume may shake em loose :439:

The wing bolts arrived today a bit quicker to use. As I have previously said I'll put gaffer tape over them to stop any undoing. Got to get some shake-proof/lock-washers now.

I suspect Helen would confirm that but as yours is now nuclear powered it should be OK :wink:
