I agree with KD, they won't believe it even exists.:(

Set it up well and you will have a fine little machine.
I had one of these on loan in 1976 when my Glide was in for service. I didn't want to give it back :D :D and then missed the opportunity to buy it a few months later:eek: . Happy days.;)

best join your local hog chapter they will welcome you with open arms

better still find one of the two strokes and turn the oil mixture up, bound to impress them

nice project and wish you well with it, they apparantly from write ups in classic bike are brilliant underated bikes

Re: The latest project

Thanks KD will have a look around that, there is not much i need really can make the majority of the parts that need replacing, just would prefer to restore it than stick newer parts on it.

Graeme's tongue is firmly in his cheek I suspect! :D

Neil, this may be one where the VMCC could help you. The Aermacchi engines are highly prized in classic racing, and you may possibly be able to contact the VMCC's "marque specialist" who may be able to give you some pointers re. parts and info.

Go to www.vmcc.net for more info.

Also check out e-bay in the States, bits may be easier to find there.

Looks tidy enough, and as others have said, these are VERY nice little bikes when set up right; about 90 top end and apparently handle and stop well too.

Re: The latest project

Thanks Kev, i will check them out, at the moment the only things i think i need is a new pair of exhaust silencers (could use something aftermarket if it comes to it) and perhaps a repro taillight if i want to leave it original if not can get some sort of aftermarket thingy on it, apart from that theres not that much that needs replacing, just everything shot blasting powdercoating, painting and chroming.

Hopefully the motor will not need re-building as its barely done any miles (7000) so we will wait and see.

PS heres a pic of what it should look like i found

Re: The latest project

I seem to think that they originally had Lanfranconi mufflers, which are fairly common on other Italian bikes. The one in the "finished" pic is definitely aftermarket of course, and I must admit looks neat.

The tail-light on yours looks original to me; I don't think the muffler is, looks like a K4 Honda 250 at a guess.

Re: The latest project

Great wee bikes. The local racing circuits were dominated by them in the 250 and 350 classes back in the seventies. They sounded brilliant!
Earlier ones had spine frames, like a huge Honda 50.
There was an article in one of my Classic bike mags a wee while back, about the off-road version, with knobblies and brush guard. I'll see if I can rake it out...
