The consequences of getting old, I guess.
The latest is that I got up Monday morning with a curtain in my left eye. Wednesday I went into the eye doctor, and it turns out I have a detached retina.
Tomorrow I go in to Sacramento for surgery on the eye, and cannot return to Sutter Creek for at least three days. This is because Sutter Creek is 1200 feet in elevation and the gas they inject in your eye to hold the wall until it heals would expand when you go above 500 feet and cause more damage to the eye. After a few days the gas has dissipated enough to allow elevation changes. So I'll have to stay in Folsom until at least Monday. Fortunately, the place where we stay has kitchenettes, so we'll be able to eat in the room.
The other option would be to have them insert an oil in the eye. But this would have to stay in the eye for three to six months, and would have to be sugically removed after that time.
Even worse; I have to keep my head facing down for three days. We have to rent a special chair and a body pillow to accomodate this. So no sight seeing or having anything like a good time during this period. I won't even be able to go on the computer, since we don't have a lap top. I'd even have to use a mirror to watch television (Horrors! I'll probably miss NASCAR).
This really SUCKS! :A:
