For those who need to address this issue on kindle fire tablets the answer appears to be to download and install google play store, after which you can download and install google chrome or Mozilla firefox.
Type into the kindle silk search bar the question 'how to install google play store on a amazon fire'. Look for a hit by 'blog the ebook reader and follow the instructions and links. Play store is made up of 4 components to download and install.
I did this with my daughters 5th gen kindle fire last night then installed google chrome. Unfortunately chrome was still showing that it was corrupted via the apple thing so I uninstalled it and installed Mozilla firefox which came up good using the test given out by Tom.
