Oil pressure 1987 evo engine

They all fit, BUT!! 63805-80A is a 30 Micron filter for Shovels and evo engines, I think you have a 5 micron one, this is more than probably too fine for the oil pump in your engine.
Evo oil pumps work well enough within the design of the engine. Later filters can cause real problems.
I could be wrong, I often am, but I would NOT use that filter on an evo.
Don't trust HD on this one.

Bang on mate his is the 5 micron type recon we are on the right track here especialy given the age of the motor

The Evo oil filter is in the return circuit to the tank so can't affect the oil pressure which comes from the feed side.
Scavenge pump is twice the capacity of the feed pump so unlikely to affect the return volume even with a more restrictive filter.
I ran one of the later TC filters on an Evo for a full year without any problems.

I bought the filter from Hog Parts, all seems to solved though with the cleaning of the blocked gauze, again thanks for all your help. I will take her out again tomorrow and double check again.

I use the HD P/N 63796-77A chrome filter on my 98 FXSTC and have done for almost 20 years.

I'm with Simon. Oil pressure gauges (mostly made in China) do nothing but induce fear. Straight to the rubbish bin.
